Pulwama youth abducted, killed by militants: Police

Srinagar, Aug 13: A bullet- riddled body of a 24-year-old youth, was recovered in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Monday morning.

Reports said that the body of the youth was found by the locals and they accordingly informed the police.

The police recovered the body soon after information that the youth was lying in a pool of blood near the peripheries of an orchard at Bunpora Muran.

A police officer while confirming the incident identified the deceased as Gulzar Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat of Bunpora Murran Pulwama.

After conducting all legal formalities including the postmortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his family for last rites, he said.

Official police spokesperson later claimed that militants in Murran Pulwama had abducted Gulzar Sundau night after barging inside his house.

“Later on, Police recovered the bullet riddled dead body of Gulzar from the nearby fields of Murran Pulwama. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation. Initial investigation in the matter suggests that in this incident Zahoor Thokar and Showkat Dar led group of Hizbul Mujahideen in are involved in this Killing.

Bhat, was running an eye clinic at Bijbehara.

A case under relevant sections of law has been initiated and further investigations taken, he said.
