President Honors 12-Year-Old Kashmiri Singer with PM Bal Puraskar

Srinagar, Dec 26: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 12-year-old Ayaan Sajad, a talented singer from Kashmir, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the Art and Culture category.

The prestigious ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Ayaan, who hails from Kashmir, rose to national prominence with his heartfelt rendition of the Kashmiri classic “BeDard Dadi Chane”. The song, penned by celebrated Kashmiri poet Shamas Fakeer, reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The young artist was celebrated for his dedication to preserving and promoting Kashmiri music while fostering a connection with the younger generation. His distinctive voice and ability to blend traditional and contemporary styles have earned him widespread acclaim.

Ayaan’s journey began with modest performances, including at the Achabal Open Mic event, before his talent gained significant recognition. His breakthrough came with the production of his song under the Mashq Talks – Music initiative, which brought him national attention.
