Police recover Rs 50 lakh demonetised currency

Srinagar, Jan 07: Srinagar police has arrested two persons and recovered demonetised currency of 50 Lacs from their possession.
A police party of Police Post Baghiyas led by the in-charge Police Post Sub-inspector Ajaz Ahmad apprehended two persons namely during a surprise naka checking near Batboni Baghiyas and recovered demonetized currency of rupees 50 lacs from their possession.
These two persons were later identified as Nazir Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Ramzan Rather resident of Syedpora Rafiabad and Akeel Ahmad Khan son of Ali Mohammad Khan resident of Kanpur U.P at present Baramulla.
Accordingly, cognizance was taken under THE SPECIFIED BANK NOTES (CESSATION OF LIABILITIES) ACT, 2017 & further investigation was taken up. These accused persons will be presented before the competent Court for judicial determination.
