PM Modi to Chair NITI Aayog Meet Today with Chief Ministers

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a key NITI Aayog meeting today at Bharat Mandapam, bringing together Chief Ministers and top officials from across the country. This is the first high-level interaction since the Indian Armed Forces’ successful Operation Sindoor, which dismantled terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK following the Pahalgam terror attack.

Themed ‘Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047’, the meeting aims to align state-level strategies with India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by its 100th year of independence. PM Modi is expected to urge states to formulate long-term, inclusive vision documents rooted in local strengths, focusing on human development, economic growth, sustainability, and governance reforms.

States will be encouraged to adopt data-driven, outcome-based approaches, supported by mechanisms like Project Monitoring Units and ICT infrastructure.

Key topics include:

  • Promoting entrepreneurship and skilling to harness the demographic dividend
  • Creating ecosystems for manufacturing and services in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities
  • Expanding MSME and informal employment in rural and urban sectors
  • Exploring green economy opportunities through renewable energy and circular economy initiatives

The meeting will also take forward discussions from the fourth National Conference of Chief Secretaries and align them with upcoming Budget 2025-26 proposals.

Amid global headwinds and tariff pressures from the US, the Indian economy is still projected to grow between 6.2% to 6.7% in FY26, though the IMF and World Bank have revised growth estimates to 6.2% and 6.3%, respectively.

The NITI Aayog Governing Council includes all Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors, and Union Ministers. A consolidated vision document for India’s $30 trillion economy target by 2047 is also under preparation, integrating ten sectoral themes.
