PHDCCI delegation meets Addl Comm State Taxes

SRINAGAR, APRIL 05: A delegation from the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) Kashmir met with Parveez Ahmad Raina (JKAS), Additional Commissioner, State Taxes Kashmir (Administration & Enforcement), to discuss key issues related to GST registration, tax demands, and taxpayer awareness.

The delegation comprised Himayu Wani (Co-Chair, PHDCCI), Javaid Anim (Co-Chair, PHDCCI), Billal Kawoosa (General Convenor), and Co-Convenors of the Banking and Taxation Committee, CA Anil Sharma and Mushtaq Ahmad Mir. The team engaged in an in-depth discussion aimed at promoting a more business-friendly taxation environment in the region.

During the meeting, the delegation emphasized the need to simplify the GST registration process, rationalize tax demands, and initiate awareness programs to educate businesses on tax compliance and its advantages. They also expressed gratitude to the State Taxes Department for the timely release of GST reimbursements, which has significantly supported trade and industry in the region.

The Additional Commissioner assured the PHDCCI that the department is committed to creating a transparent and business-friendly taxation system. He stressed the importance of collaboration between the department and the business community to simplify compliance procedures and enhance the ease of doing business in Kashmir. He further emphasized the department’s focus on encouraging responsible tax practices and building a culture of tax awareness among businesses.

Both sides agreed on the importance of sustained cooperation to develop a progressive and compliant tax ecosystem. The PHDCCI appreciated the proactive approach of the Additional Commissioner and expressed optimism for continued engagement to benefit both the government and the business fraternity in Kashmir.
