Panchayat Polls: Over 75% vote in phase-III

Jammu, Nov 24: In the Phase-III of Panchayat Polls held on Saturday, the overall poll percentage of 75.2% was witnessed across the State.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer J&K, Shaleen Kabra, an overwhelming 83% polling was witnessed in Jammu division and 55.7% in Kashmir division.

Giving district-wise details, Kabra said that Kupwara witnessed 59.7%, Bandipora 51%, Baramulla 30.8%, Ganderbal 12%, Budgam 41%, Kargil, 75.6%, Leh 64.1%, Kishtwar 85%, Doda 77.4%, Ramban 85.7%, Udhampur 83.8%, Kathua 83.2%, Rajouri 80.3% and Poonch 87.8%.

He said over 3.20 lakh electors turned out to exercise their franchise in Phase-III.

Pertinently, in the Phase-I of Panchayat Polls held on 17 November 2018, 74.1% polling was recorded across the State with 64.5% in Kashmir division and 79.5% in Jammu division.

Similarly, in Phase-II overall 71.1% polling was witnessed across the State with 80.4% polling in Jammu division and 52.2% in Kashmir division.

Voting for Phase-IV of Panchayat Polls will take place on 27 November 2018.
