New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the government is following a policy of zero tolerance against narco syndicates, as the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) secured the return of wanted drug trafficker Mohammad Salim Dola from Türkiye.
In a post on X, Amit Shah said the operation marked a major breakthrough in the crackdown on international drug networks. “Under the mission to dismantle drug cartels, our anti-narcotics agencies have extended their reach across borders through a robust global network. No matter where they hide, no place is safe for drug kingpins,” he said.
The successful return of Salim Dola reflects the government’s resolve to bring narcotics fugitives and organised crime members to justice by pursuing them globally.
The NCB, in coordination with international and Indian intelligence agencies, secured Dola’s return under Operation Global Hunt. He was taken into custody upon arrival at IGI Airport, New Delhi, early Tuesday.
Dola, 59, a Mumbai resident and subject of an INTERPOL Red Notice issued in March 2024, was wanted in multiple narcotics trafficking cases and had been absconding for years.
Investigations revealed that he had built a transnational drug trafficking network spanning the Middle East, Africa and Europe. His criminal record includes involvement in major seizures of heroin, charas, mephedrone, mandrax and methamphetamine in Maharashtra and Gujarat. He is also wanted by ATS Gujarat and Mumbai Police. Earlier, his son Tahil Salim Dola and other associates were arrested after extradition from the UAE in 2025. Officials said the operation reflects strong coordination between authorities in Türkiye, INTERPOL and Indian agencies.
