‘Nabi Diyan Siftan’: Sikh singer’s Punjabi ‘Naat Sharif’ breaks internet, builds communal bonds

Srinagar: Punjabi Singer Satnam Punjabi’s ‘naat sharif’ ‘Nabi Diyan Siftan’ is breaking the internet and also building communal bonds across the Indo-Pak border.

 The ‘naat sharif’ was recited by Satnam, who is a Ph.D. Research Student at the Punjabi University Patiala.

It has already got over two million hits on YouTube only. Released in May earlier this year, it is still being widely shared on other social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. The ‘naat sharif’ is being liked by people in both India and Pakistan. 

“Great effort to make our relationship strong with Muslim community,” wrote Seemal Dhiman on YouTube. Another listener Usama Rasool wrote: “I’m from Punjab, Pakistan.. your voice is too much awesome paaa JI…. jidoo v aye naat Shareef sundaaa waaa dill nu Sakoon a Jandaa aye (sic).”

 “Masha Allah, Sikh are our brothers, we love them. Love from Pakistan Punjab (sic),” wrote Shah G Wazaif.
