London :My sons’ father is Pakistan’s next PM: Jemima on Imran Khan: Jemima Goldsmith, who was married to PTI chief Imran Khan, and has two sons with him, took to Twitter to congratulate him as he gets set to be Pakistan’s next PM.
Jemima married Imran in 1995 and parted ways in 2004. After the divorce, Khan married twice.
Jemima writes, “I remember IKs (Imran Khan’s) 1st election in 1997 – untested, idealistic & politically naive. I waited up for the call in LHR with 3 mo old Sulaiman, who I had lugged around the country. Eventually he called. Its a clean sweep” & after my gasp, the other way. He roared with laughter.
“22 years later, after humiliations, hurdles and sacrifices, my sons father is Pakistans next PM. Its an incredible lesson in tenacity, belief & refusal to accept defeat. The challenge now is to remember why he entered politics in the 1st place. Congratulations @ImranKhanPTI.”
Just ahead of the Pak polls, Jemima also wished Pakistan good luck as it went to the polls.
Happy Election Day Pakistan, you maddening, beautiful, crazy, beloved old friend. Heres hoping the people who count your votes, let your vote count. And you get the leader you believe in. Pakistan Zindabad!, tweeted Jemima.
