Srinagar, Nov 2: A Kashmiri student, who had gone missing after being thrashed in last month from New Delhi after, has purportedly joined ISJK ranks.
Ehtisham Bilal, a resident of Khanyar Srinagar, who was enrolled at Greater Noida’s Sharda University, was missing since October 28. Weeks prior to that, he was thrashed during a scuffle between some students at the varsity.
On Friday, however, a purported audio along with his picture surfaced on social media wherein he announces his induction into the ranks of Jundul Khilafah, a unit of ‘Islamic State’ in Kashmir.
Ehtisham, as per the purported audio, has been given nom-de-guerre of Abu Muhammad Al-Inghamasi. He, in the audio, pledges allegiance to ISIS and disassociates himself from all other armed and political groups of Kashmir.
Ehtisham first came to limelight after he was roughed up by a mob of students at Sharda University. He was injured in the assault and subsequently hospitalised. However days after the assault, he left the university on the pretext of going for sight-seeing in neighbouring Delhi but never returned. Ehtisham’s family had staged series of protests in summer capital, seeking his whereabouts from authorities.
