ANANTNAG, DECEMBER 09: The involvement of the public in shaping developmental plans and execution of works on the ground is paramount, which will help to ensure development at grassroots, besides the billing process according to the usage needs to be reformed to ensure that consumers pay the bills as per the agreement clinched with the PDD department. The officers should ensure that people do not suffer any more on account of development, supply of electricity and various other matters pertaining to them (public).
AICC General Secretary and Congress Legislature Party Leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir made these comments while presiding over a joint meeting of officers of Rural Development Department and Power Development Department at Dooru in Anantnag district on Monday, in which he (Mir) highlighted the significance of identifying the urgent demands for their timely resolution.
Addressing the review meeting, Ghulam Ahmad Mir laid emphasis over public involvement in the developmental process while referring to the Panchayat Raj System, which came into existence with the sole aim to involve the public in the developmental process in their respective areas, so that there would be no negligence on the part of system. Mir stressed the need that while preparing the developmental plans there has to be public involvement at large scale, which will definitely facilitate the recognition of the developmental needs on the ground for their timely resolution.
On this occasion, CLP Leader directed the RDD Officers to reach out to the public and seek their suggestions, identify their demands and particularly involve them fully in preparing developmental plans pertaining to their respective area. He also asked the PDD officers to review the billing system very immediately as that the consumers are being served bills beyond their usage. rather their imagination, thereby putting unnecessary burden on poor people.
