Minister Javed Rana Attends Regional Power Ministers’ Conference in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, June 6: Jammu and Kashmir Minister Javed Rana attended the 2025 Regional Power Ministers’ Conference for Northern States and Union Territories in Chandigarh, where key issues concerning the power sector were discussed.

During the conference, Minister Rana highlighted the urgent need for a firm and assured power supply to Jammu and Kashmir from the Government of India during the winter months at affordable rates. He also stressed the importance of enhancing cyber security and strengthening the transmission network through the upgradation of the Kishenpur-Moga line and early completion of the 400 KVA Grid Station at Siot.

He further advocated for the promotion of renewable energy through small hydroelectric projects and emphasized the need for a green corridor to evacuate solar power from Ladakh.

Reaffirming the region’s commitment to energy security, Rana said the Jammu and Kashmir Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, is fully committed to working in coordination with all stakeholders to ensure a reliable, sustainable, and secure power supply.
