MeT predicts fresh spell of rain, snow

Srinagar, Feb 17: The weatherman has forecast a fresh spell of rain and snowfall in the Kashmir Valley from Sunday evening till January 22.
“We expect scattered light rain and snow to commence over many parts of Jammu and Kashmir by today evening till February 22. However the intensity will increase from Monday,” an official of the MET Department said.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar was minus 1.1 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam recorded minus 2.8 and Gulmarg minus 8.5 degree Celsius.
Leh in Ladakh region recorded minus 12.3 degrees Celsius, Kargil minus 14.0 and Drass minus 24.1 degree Celsius.
The night’s lowest temperatures in Jammu city was 8.1 degrees Celsius, Katra 8.0, Batote 2.0, Bannihal 4.0 and Bhaderwah minus1.5 degree Celsius.

Kashmir colleges to remain closed until Feb 21

Srinagar, Feb 17: In view of the inclement weather forecast, the Divisional administration in Kashmir has ordered deferred reopening of colleges after winter vacations across the division.
Divisional Commissioner Baseer Ahmad Khan said all colleges across the Kashmir division scheduled to reopen tomorrow after winter vacations will now reopen on Thursday February 21.
He said the decision has been taken in view of the inclement weather forecast.
