‘Mentally weak’ ex-Army officer kills 6 with iron rod in 2 hours

Palwal: Haryana on Tuesday woke up to a chilling series of murders in which six people were brutally killed at separate locations across Palwal. One accused has been arrested and is being interrogated by the police.

Police sources said that the accused identified as Naresh Kumar could be mentally unstable and that he murdered all the six victims with an iron rod. All the killings were reportedly carried out within a span of two hours between 2 am and 4 am.

Palwal’s Superintendent of Police Sulochana Gajraj said Naresh was around 40 to 45-years-old and “appeared to be mentally weak”, a report in India Today said.

According to a report in NDTV, the police said Kumar first murdered a woman in a hospital and then four other people between Agra Road and Minar Gate of Palwal, before killing his last victim, a security guard.

Naresh Kumar who was a Captain in the army, now works in the Haryana agriculture department.

Following the murders, the police issued high alert in Palwal.
