New Delhi: A devastating fire broke out at a residential building in Dwarka Sector-13 on Tuesday morning, claiming the lives of three members of a family. The blaze erupted on the eighth and ninth floors of Shapath Society, near MRV School, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
According to officials, the fire was reported at 9:58 am, following which eight fire tenders and a sky lift were deployed to the scene. Disturbing visuals showed the building engulfed in flames, with thick smoke billowing from shattered windows.
In a desperate attempt to escape, 35-year-old Yash Yadav and his two children—a 10-year-old boy and a girl—jumped from their balcony. All three were rushed to nearby hospitals but were declared dead on arrival. Mr. Yadav was admitted to IGI Hospital, while the children were taken to Aakash Hospital.
Mr. Yadav, who was involved in the flex board business, was residing in the building with his family. His wife and elder son managed to survive and have been admitted to IGI Hospital for treatment.
All residents of Shapath Society have been safely evacuated, and both electricity and gas connections have been temporarily disconnected to prevent any further mishaps.
Authorities, including the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), have been alerted to inspect the building’s structural integrity.
