A 24-year-old sex-trafficking victim who  educated more than 1800 Anganwadi teachers after her rescue has been chosen for  International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) in the US.

Hailing from Telangana, the woman was cheated by her neighbor in the name of love and sold to a brothel.

Media reports said she eloped with her boyfriend only to be pushed into the sex trade. The boyfriend introduced bawd as her aunt. She later came to know she had been sold for Rs. 30, 000. Later she was trafficked to various states and forced into sex work.

She was also pushed into becoming a drug addict so that she cannot escape from the racket.

Two years after in 2013, an NGO rescued and rehabilitated her. Currently, she is working for the same NGO.

Nine years on, she has been invited by IVLP for her efforts in educating more than 1800 Anganwadi teachers about the trafficking issue. She taught them how to fight against trafficking in their localities.
