Lockdown is imperative, don’t harras frontline health workers: DAK

Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Tuesday said that lockdown is only way to curtail the community spread and case escalation of coronavirus, that has been declared pandemic by the World Health Organization.

President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik said any relaxation in restrictions means inviting Covid-19 and it’s associated death and devastation  to Union Territory Jammu Kashmir . “But it is unfortunate that large number of health workers and doctors have complained that different security agencies are creating hurdles in there free movement when they are on way to perform their duties,” he said.

DAK equest to Inspector General of Police Kashmir zone to order slew of measures during these trying times so that hassle free movement of doctors or any emergency is not interrupted.

“The very abnormal behavior of security personnel can increase mortality due to non- Covid 19 cases,” he said.

The doctors body appealed adminstration to frame rotational duty roster for frontline health workers and group them in to team A and B ,so that  back up teams  are always ready to handle crisis and cases as desired.

  In a meeting held on Tuesday,  DAK hailed the measures taken by UT administration including closing of educational institutions, public places and suspension of flight operations.


“Administration is doing its best to save lives of people but it is unfortunate that some people who are ignorant about the gravity of situation are going to trouble the people,” DAK said.

DAK stressed the government to arrange huge quantities of Personal  Protection Kits in order to curtail the spread and attack of infection on health workers.”We are around more than 30 thousand work force and therefore it is very imperative to purchase safety kits in very huge quantities,” it demanded.
