Bandipora: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday led a mega anti-drug ‘padyatra’ in Bandipora town as part of the ‘100 Days Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan’, officials said.

The march witnessed a large turnout of students, locals and civil society members, they said.

LG Sinha, while addressing the gathering, described the youth as the “true builders of the nation” and called upon them to stay away from substance abuse.

The Lieutenant Governor’s direct participation in the district-level event was aimed at strengthening community involvement against the narcotics menace, the official added.

Speakers at the event highlighted the growing threat of drugs in the region and urged constructive societal participation to eradicate the vice.

The ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan’ is being implemented across all districts with active support from police, educational institutions and local communities, officials said.

“The role of young people is important in shaping a drug-free society,” a senior official said, urging youth to focus on education and nation-building.

The Bandipora padyatra is part of the administration’s intensified public awareness drive to make the Union Territory drug-free, officials added.
