LG Manoj Sinha Flags Off ‘Physics Bharat Yatra’ from Udhampur

Udhampur, May 26: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today flagged off the ‘Physics Bharat Yatra’ from Udhampur, marking the beginning of a nationwide initiative to promote experimental science learning among students. The yatra is led by renowned physicist Padma Shri Dr HC Verma and organised by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) in collaboration with the National Anveshika Network of India (NANI).

Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor praised the initiative for igniting scientific curiosity and fostering a culture of innovation through hands-on science education. He noted that the yatra, which will cover every district in India, symbolizes unity through a shared mission to bring back the joy of learning science.

Highlighting the broader impact of such initiatives, LG Sinha said that when science is integrated deeply into society, it drives innovation and improves the quality of life. He also reflected on the country’s transformation over the past decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, particularly in the pursuit of self-reliance (Aatmnirbhar Bharat).

Referring to the recent success of ‘Operation Sindoor’, the LG said the operation exemplifies India’s growing indigenous defence and scientific capabilities. He hailed it as a testament to the nation’s commitment to self-reliance and technological advancement.

LG Sinha further emphasised the need to build capacity among science teachers and bring modern scientific developments into classrooms and labs. He encouraged educational institutions to provide young minds with larger platforms and ambitious goals in scientific research.

Calling on the global Indian scientific community, the LG invited Indian-origin scientists and engineers to return to the country and contribute to its growing scientific and economic progress. “India today offers favourable conditions for innovation, and we need their expertise to become a global leader in science and technology,” he added.

He underscored the role of India’s unique blend of science, spirituality, and traditional values (Sanskar) in shaping the country’s global prominence. “We are strategically investing in science and technology with the vision to make India a developed nation by 2047,” he said.

Dr HC Verma shared insights into the vision behind the yatra, noting its focus on hands-on learning and encouraging youth to integrate science into everyday life. The Lieutenant Governor also visited the Physics Exhibition at the venue, which featured student-led experiments and models.

The event was attended by Shri Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA Udhampur West; Shri Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA Chenani; DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Ms Sarah Rizvi; Deputy Commissioner Ms Saloni Rai; Shri Mineesh Gulati, Coordinator of Happy IAPT Anveshika Udhampur; senior officials, educators, students, and prominent citizens.
