Srinagar, Aug 31: Militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba Friday warned the J&K police of not “dragging” their families into the conflict.

Mahmood Shah, Chief LeT, as per an emailed statement to The Kashmir Monitor, asked IG CID Abdul Ghani Mir that “the honor and sanctity” of the homes of slain and active militants “is the same as of yours”.

“The respect and honor of mothers, sisters and daughters of freedom fighters and martyrs should be the same as you do to yours. We have on numerous occasions warned the forces and police personnel to not to drag the families into the conflict. But they continue to infiltrate our homes and compromise their honor,” read the statement.

“The responsibility of current situation lies on the shoulders of police and CID. Why is it that those who condemn the attacks on police do not speak up when the police personnel barge into the homes of martyrs and freedom fighters and mercilessly and indiscriminately beat the family members?,” the statement added.

LeT warned that anyone who aides government forces “will bear the responsibility to his very own punishment.”

The outfit strongly condemned the arrest of the son of Syed Salahuddin, Shakeel Yusuf, by NIA and termed the act as ‘state terrorism’.
