Lal Singh’s brother booked for abusing CM

Srinagar, May 21: Jammu Kashmir Police Monday registered an FIR against former minister Lal Singh’s brother, Rajinder Singh aka Bubby, for abusing Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti at a rally in Kathua.
On Monday, a viral video showed Chowdhary Rajinder Singh using shameful and vulgar language against the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti during the protest in support of Kathua rape accused on Sunday in Jammu.
Director General of Police Dr S P Vaid, as per Kashmir News Service, said that the police has taken strong cognizance of the act and has decided to lodge the FIR against the former minister’s brother.
DGP added that he has personally directed the concerned SSP to lodge an FIR immediately. In the meantime unconfirmed reports suggested that police may arrest the accused however there was no official confirmation to it.
Opposition leader and former chief minister, Omar Abdullah, while taking strong objection to the abusive language against Mehbooba Mufti, demanded stern action against Lal Singh’s brother.
In a tweet Omar said that such a language against Mehbooba Mufti was unacceptable and demanded an FIR be lodged against the erring BJP leader’s kin.
Taking to micro blogging website, Omar said: “This is absolutely unacceptable language used against @MehboobaMufti & is unequivocally condemned with the request that @JmuKmrPolice file a FIR against this abusive individual”.
Rubbishing the shameful language of Lal Singh’s brother against Chief Minister, People’s Democratic Party has decided to lodge a strong protest with state BJP and said such un-parliamentary language was unacceptable and uncalled for.
Talking to Kashmir News Service, PDP Chief Spokesperson Mohammad Rafi Mir has said that the language used by Lal Singh’s brother was extremely objectionable and the PDP would take up the matter with state leadership of BJP. He said that police has taken the suo-moto notice and lodged an FIR against him.
Mir termed the daily protests as a tactics of black mailing said that such actions can’t be tolerated and BJP would be approached for the misconduct of the Chowdhary brothers.
BJP too condemned the vulgar language used by Choudhary Rajinder Singh.
BJP’s State General secretary, Ashok Koul said the party condemned the use of ‘derogatory language’ against Mehbooba. “We (BJP) respect the woman. We have been taught since the childhood to respect the woman,” he said, adding that abusive language against the woman in intolerable.
Asked about action, Koul said that the person who has used vulgar language has no connection with the BJP. “He is not even the member of BJP,” Koul added.
