Srinagar, Dec 23: The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecast a further dip in temperatures by 2-3°C across Jammu and Kashmir from December 24 to 25. Cold wave conditions are expected to persist at isolated places until December 26.
According to an official, the region will experience generally cloudy weather today, with light snowfall over isolated higher reaches. From December 24 to 26, dry weather is anticipated. However, between December 27 and 28, there is a likelihood of cloudy skies with light rain in Jammu’s plains and light snow over the higher reaches of the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal range, particularly from the afternoon of December 27 to the forenoon of December 28.
Dry weather is expected from December 29 to 30, while December 31 may see cloudy skies with light snow at isolated higher reaches. From January 1 to 3, the weather is predicted to remain cloudy, with light snow at isolated to scattered locations in Jammu and Kashmir.
The official warned of a possible 2-3°C drop in minimum temperatures during December 24-26 and the continuation of cold wave conditions in certain areas. Travelers, tourists, and transporters are advised to stay updated with weather and traffic advisories due to the risk of sub-freezing temperatures, fresh snowfall, and icy road conditions at higher passes.
