Kashmir snow: Here is what weatherman advises

SRINAGAR:  Weatherman has forecasted widespread rain and snow in Kashmir on November 6 and 7.

“Moderate Rain/snow (over higher reaches) is very likely to occur at most places of J&K.  Plains of Kashmir, mainly South, are likely to receive (2-3)inches of snowfall during November 6-7. Heavy Snowfall (2-3feet) is very likely to occur over higher reaches. (forecast confidence >75%),” Meteorological Centre, Srinagar, said

MET also warned of traffic disruption on highways in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Snowfall and low temperature  may lead to temporary disruption of surface transportation, mainly over Zojila, Jammu-Srinagar highway, Sinthantop, Mugal road, etc. during November 6 and 7,” it said

MET has cautioned the horticulturists that the snowfall may cause damage to orchards.

The weatherman has advised the people to check the highway status before embarking on a journey.

“Prior to embark on journey, Know status of road from Traffic police to avoid inconveniences. Farmers are advised to harvest agriculture/horticulture produce which are vulnerable to snowfall and low temperature,” said MET
