Srinagar, Oct 21:The Joint Hurriyat Leadership Sunday termed the killing of civilians in Kulgam as “a carnage which shows that Kashmir has been turned into a slaughter house”.

Seven civilians were Sunday killed in an explosion at a gunfight site thronged by people soon after three militants were killed in an encounter at Laroo village in Kulgam district.

In a statement issued soon after, the Joint Hurriyat comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik said: “Kashmir has been turned into a slaughter house where no young, old, child or women is safe. Tyranny and oppression has crossed every limit now and Kashmiris cannot tolerate this silently anymore.”

The leadership asked the people to observe a total strike against the killings on Monday.

“On Tuesday, people along with the leadership will march to Lal Chowk and hold a protest sit-in against the Indian aggression,” the statement said.

Joint Hurriyat, as per the statement, said it is preparing a memorandum to United Nations secretary general to highlight “Indian aggression against unarmed civilians in Kashmir.”

“This memorandum will also be made available through social media and all Kashmiris will sign it as a mark of hate against Indian inhumanity in Kashmir,” it said.

Joint Hurriyat, the statement added, said after the Governor assumed office, the “bloodshed, oppression and tyranny has risen to new heights.”
