Jammu: A joint delegation of PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Hotel & Restaurant Association of Katra led by Sh. Anil Khaitan, National President PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, met Governor N.N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan and apprised him about their views about the steps needed to be taken to promote tourism in J&K.
The delegation suggested wide publicity to potential tourist places in and around Katra, enhanced participation in trade fairs, larger scale celebration of festivals like navratras, constructing Ghats at Banganga and enhanced health care facilities.
Governor expressed concern over the issues of cleanliness and sanitation in Katra town and observed that the owners of the very large number of hotels in Katra and all other stakeholders should collectively get involved with effective garbage collection, garbage disposal, solid waste management and Sewerage treatment as such responsibility shall contribute towards Katra being developed as a model town.

Governor congratulates VC SKUAST-J for securing second position in ICAR’s AIEEA-PG-2017 online counselling
Jammu, March 13: Governor N.N. Vohra, Chancellor of Sher-e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu, has congratulated Dr. Pradeep. K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the University, and his colleagues for the University securing the second position among the 73 State Farm Universities in the country consequent to its students securing 8 Veterinary & Fisheries Sciences Post Graduate Scholarships during the Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s AIEEA-PG-2017 online counselling.
Relevant to mention that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research has introduced four programme-category-based awards: (i) Agricultural Sciences (ii) Horticulture & Forestry (iii) Engineering and Technology (iv) Veterinary & Fisheries Sciences for the Agricultural Universities of the country.
Governor has wished high success to the students, who have won Scholarship, in all their future endeavours and urged the University to continue striving for achieving the highest standards of excellence in teaching and learning.
