J&K, Ladakh witness National Highways constructions of 1,363 km in last 5 yrs

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 12: Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh have witnessed significant progress in road infrastructure development over the past five years, with the construction of 1,363 kilometers of National Highways from 2019 to November 2024. This includes 1,245 kilometers in Jammu & Kashmir and 118 kilometers in Ladakh, showcasing the government’s commitment to improving connectivity in these regions.

In the current fiscal year 2024-25, up to November, 128 kilometers of highways were constructed in Jammu & Kashmir, while Ladakh completed 50 kilometers. The previous year, 2023-24, saw 243 kilometers of highways built in Jammu & Kashmir and 81 kilometers in Ladakh. Similarly, in 2022-23, 217 kilometers were constructed in Jammu & Kashmir, while Ladakh added 51 kilometers to its highway network.

The year 2021-22 marked the construction of 263 kilometers of highways in Jammu & Kashmir. In 2020-21, the region completed 234 kilometers, with Ladakh adding 7 kilometers. During 2019-20, Jammu & Kashmir constructed 46 kilometers of highways, and Ladakh built 4 kilometers.
