Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Amitava Chatterjee on Friday announced plans to expand the bank’s branch network, saying at least 40 new branches would be opened during the current year, followed by another 60 to 70 branches next year.
Chatterjee said the expansion was part of the bank’s efforts to strengthen its banking network and improve accessibility for customers.
“This year, we will open at least 40 branches across the bank’s network. Our target is to open another 60 to 70 branches by next year,” he said.
The MD and CEO was speaking after inaugurating a new extension counter, which he said would further strengthen the bank’s services.
Responding to a question about the progress of the bank’s recruitment process, Chatterjee said the relevant notification would be issued to newspapers during the day.
“The notification will be sent to newspapers from our office today,” he said, without elaborating on the number of vacancies or the recruitment schedule.
The announcement comes as the bank moves ahead with its plans to expand its physical presence while also undertaking recruitment-related measures.
Extending greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on Diwali, Chatterjee expressed optimism about the period ahead.
“I wish everyone a happy Diwali. Some people consider this the beginning of a new year. I believe it marks a new beginning, and the future will be very good,” he said.
