Bathinda, June 12: The body of Kamal Kaur, a social media influencer with over 3.8 lakh followers on Instagram, was found in a car parked outside Adesh Medical University along the Bathinda-Chandigarh National Highway late Tuesday night.
The vehicle, bearing Ludhiana registration, had been parked in the hospital lot for an extended period, prompting suspicion. A strong foul smell from the car led hospital staff to alert the police.
“We received information about a stationary vehicle emitting a strong odour in the hospital’s parking area. Upon inspection, a woman’s body was discovered on the back seat,” said Bathinda SP Narendra Singh. “She was later identified as Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur, around 30 years old, and a resident of Ludhiana.”
Kaur had reportedly left home on June 9, informing her family she was traveling to Bathinda for a promotional event. After that, she lost contact with them.
CCTV footage retrieved by police shows a man driving the vehicle in which Kaur was later found dead. In the video, the man is seen parking the car at the hospital premises before walking away.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and efforts are underway to identify and locate the man seen in the footage.
