Srinagar, Dec 30: A day after the encounter in South Kashmir’s Pulwama, Mehbooba Mufti, former Chief Minister, Jammu and Kashmir, visited the interiors of the district.

Mehbooba visited Patipora village of the district where she met Rubina, who was allegedly harassed by police for being a militant’s sister.

Later Mehbooba took to Twitter posting about her visit: “Visited Patipora Pulwama where Rubina (whose brother happens to be a militant) was, along with her husband & brother, beaten mercilessly in police custody. The severe nature of her injuries has left her bedridden.

“Urge the J&K Governor to initiate action and prevent such incidents in the future. If harassment of families of militants isn’t stopped, it will have consequences leading to further alienation in the valley.”

Mehbooba, as per PDP spokesperson, said she “won’t allow bloodshed and making South Kashmir a battle ground.”

Mehbooba, as per the spokesperson, also visited the shrine at Lassipora Pulwama and interacted with the people.

While objecting to use of force on civilians and harassment of public, she added: “Excessive use of force is responsible for unrest and pushing youth to the gun.”
