In frames: Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh promote `83’ in Saudi Arabia

Away from Prince Mohammad bin Salman and Salman Khan’s meeting, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were spotted in Saudi Arabia promoting the upcoming biopic `83’.

Based on the life of Kapil Dev and India’s World Cup win in 1983, `83’ will be released on Christmas. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are playing the character of Kapil Dev and his wife Romi Devi.

83 is the story of India beating West Indies in the world Cup championship event and managing to bring the prestigious trophy home under the captainship of Kapil Dev.

“On June 25, 1983, the Lord’s Cricket Ground witnessed 14 men beat the twice over World Champions West Indies, putting India back onto the cricket world stage,” filmmakers said in the trailer.

Both Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone had reached Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to promote the movie and watch the premiere. Ranveer Singh looked dapper in a brown suit while Deepika Padukone looked drop-dead-gorgeous in a stunning red gown with oversize frills. The Bollywood power couple received a warm welcome from Saudi Arabian crowd.

Along with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, Kapil Dev and Romi Dev were also present at the event. 83 was initially scheduled for a release in April of 2020, but owing to the pandemic, the release date had to be pushed back multiple times. 

The movie will also see Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Chirag Patil, Jatin Sarna, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, and R Badree.
