IISM Completes another Ski course

Srinagar : Despite paucity of snow, IISM Gulmarg was able to conduct its 2nd ski course with preserved snow on their slopes. The impressive graduation ceremony was held in the Institute premises in which Arun Srivastava, Dy. Director General of Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India was the chief guest. He gave away the medals of merit to winners of the various events during the course. More than 80 students from all over the country participated in the 02 week ski course in which all three levels of skiing were conducted concurrently.
JS Dhillon, Director, IISM welcomed the chief guest and briefed him about the different activities being undertaken by the Institute. He said that Institute has state of the art centrally heated building with modern ski equipment and snow machinery to conduct the ski courses of international standards. He said that due to high standards of training and administration there is a huge rush of students who want to join the institute courses. But unfortunately due to limited capacity only few get the opportunity to join IISM courses. Students of IISM come from all parts of the country who train with students from Kashmir thereby making IISM as the best platform of national integration. He advised the students to be the ambassadors of Kashmir and dispel fears from the minds of people to visit Kashmir as it I is totally safe for tourist.
He praised the Principal JS Dhillon for his excellent efforts to revive the institute despite facing numerous challenges. He said, the institute imparts training of international standards on a highly subsidized rate of Rs. 7,000/- for children & Rs. 14,000/- for adults as compared to approx Rs. 5.00 lakhs in the European countries. He also said that institute not only imparts a skill of adventure to its students but it also transform their personality and teaches them the art of becoming good leaders and better human beings. Courses of the institute are being subscribed by the renowned educations institutes of the Nation and it has become difficult to get admission in it. Institutes also field its own ski teams in the national and international ski competitions. Institute conducts six ski courses during winters. They are also planning to conduct diversified adventure courses during summers too.
