Srinagar, Oct 11: A Hurriyat activist was shot dead by unknown gunmen in an apple orchard here in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.Witnesses said that unknown gunmen emerged in an orchard where Hurriyat activist was present and shot him dead.
Locals identified the slain as Molvi Tariq Ahmed Ganaie who was currently affiliated with Masrat Aalam led Jammu Kashmir Muslim League.
Reports said that Tariq was an armed militant till 1996 and two month before he was released by government after two years detention.
Police while blaming the militants for the killing said that they have registered a case in this regard and the investigation has been initiated in the instant manner.
