Heavy Rains Likely in Jammu Division, MET Issues Advisory

Srinagar, Aug 25: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Monday issued a weather advisory predicting light to moderate rains across Jammu & Kashmir over the next two days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in parts of Jammu division.

Director MET, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Said, “From August 25 to 26, we are expecting widespread rainfall activity. Districts like Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, as well as parts of Poonch, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar may see moderate to heavy or even very heavy showers. Southern parts of Kashmir may also receive heavy rain.”

He further cautioned that there is a possibility of flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas. People have been advised to stay away from riverbanks, nallas, and loose structures, while authorities have been asked to remain alert for water logging in low-lying areas of Jammu division.

The forecast suggests hot and humid weather with occasional brief showers between August 27–30, followed by another spell of moderate to heavy rainfall in Jammu division between August 31 and September 1. (KNC)
