Health official among four killed in Surankote mishap

Poonch, Aug 13 : Four persons including a woman health official were killed and seven others were injured after a passenger vehicle skidded off the road and fell down into 250 ft deep gorge in Surankote area of border district Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

Reports reaching GNS said that a Tata Sumo (JK02AC-0074) overturned and rolled down near Gursai Mohre today late in the afternoon. In the mishap, eleven persons were injured.

All the injured persons were taken to SDH Surankote where four among them including the woman were declared brought dead, they said.

“Later, five more critically injured were referred to district hospital Rajouri from SDH Surankote in critical conditions”.

The deceased have been identified as Liyaqat Ahmad son of Khadam Hussain of Gursai, Nissar Hussain Shah son of Faid Hussain Shah of Gursai, Khursheed Ahmad son of Mohd Aslam of Gursai and Koushal Kanta wife of Madan Mohan of Draba, Surankote.

Koushal, was working in Sub-district hospital Mendhar as LHV.

SHO Surankote, Mohd Anzar Mir confirmed the deaths and injury due to the mishap and said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations were taken up.
