Srinagar, Aug 30: Unknown gunmen on Wednesday late evening abducted the son of a policeman in Pinglish village of south Kashmir’s Tral.

Reports said that unknown gunmen barged inside the house of policeman Rafiq Ahmad and abducted his son Asif Ahmad Rather on Wednesday night from his house in Pinglish village.

Asif is a student of Sher –I-Kashmir University of agricultural sciences and technology (SKUAST), Srinagar. His father is posted in CID headquarters Srinagar.

ADGP Law & Order, Munir Ahmad Khan told The Kashmir Monitor that they have launched search operations to trace out the abducted youth.

“We are also verifying how and why it happened,” he said.

Asif’s mother made a passionate appeal for his release in video on Wednesday.

“If my son is on the wrong path show him the straight path but kindly release him,” the mother said in an appeal.

She appealed to the gunmen to have mercy on her and set Asif free for Allah’s sake.

“You are also my own children. I request you to kindly set him free,” she appealed with folded hands before breaking down.

Asif’suniversity colleagues too appealed for his release on “humanitarian grounds.”

The students of faculty BSc and MSc Sericulture of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K) appealed for the release of Asif.

“We don’t have any idea why this happened to him. All we know is that he is such a helpful person in the entire college. Asif has never indulged in any illegal activity. We request to his abductors to set him free as he is innocent,” reports quoting a student said.
