The police officer meanwhile said that it cannot be ruled out that the assailants might be fidayeens.

When reports last came in the exchange of firing was going on.

The CRPF camp is close to the SMHS Hospital, where militants struck on February 6.

Two policemen were killed and a Lashkar militant managed to flee from custody.

On December 31, five personnel were killed when Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad militants stormed a CRPF camp in Lethpora in Pulwama. Three militants were also killed in the strike.

Government forces’ installations have come under increased attack in Jammu and Kashmir, where the forces have stepped up the offensive.
