BUDGAM, DECEMBER 14: Minister for Health and Medical Education and Education, Sakina Itoo, Saturday said that the government is working on framing a standardized rate list for private laboratories to prevent overcharging for medical tests.
Speaking to reporters in Budgam, the Minister said, “We have received grievances about private labs charging exorbitant rates for various tests. I have directed the Secretary of Health and Medical Education Department to examine and regulate the rates. A rate list similar to that of government hospitals will be prepared and made public to ensure patients are not fleeced.”
Meanwhile, Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather along with Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo today conducted an extensive tour of Chrar-i-Sharief Constituency of Budgam district.
During the tour, the Speaker and the Minister inaugurated vital infrastructure projects. They also inspected several health facilities in the constituency and took stock of healthcare facilities available for the general public.
Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Akshay Labroo; Director School Education Kashmir, Director Social Welfare Kashmir, Director Health Services Kashmir, Director Colleges J&K, HoDs of various departments, district officers, and other concerned officers also accompanied the Speaker and Minister during the tour.
At GDC Chrar-i- Sharief, the Speaker and the Minister inaugurated an Indoor Sports Complex built at an estimated cost of ₹2.28 crores and Extension of Library Block constructed at the cost of ₹97 lakh at Government Degree College, Chrar-i- Sharief . They also took round of the College premises and inspected classrooms and other facilities of the college. They also interacted with students and took onspot feedback from them about the quality of education being provided at the institution.
Addressing the gathering, Speaker Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather emphasized on the importance of education in building a bright future for our next generation. He remarked that education is the cornerstone of development of any society and by investing in education, we are laying foundation for a brighter tomorrow for our children.
Speaking on occasion, Sakeena Itoo remarked that our government led by dynamic Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is committed towards welfare of common masses. “Our Government is determined to ensure that every citizen, regardless of where they live, has access to opportunities that will lead to their prosperity and progress”, Sakeena said.
