GANDERBAL, AUGUST 30: In collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Government Degree College Ganderbal organized a boot camp on Saturday as part of the J&K Startup Idea Challenge. The event aimed to foster innovative ideas among students, promote entrepreneurial thinking, and encourage youth-led innovation in the region.
The boot camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of GDC Ganderbal, SKUAST-K, and Government Polytechnic College Ganderbal. Faculty members of GDC Ganderbal, JKEDI officials, and representatives from JK Bank also attended the event.
In her inaugural address, Prof. Fouzia Fatima, Principal GDC Ganderbal applauded JKEDI’s efforts in promoting innovative ideas among young minds and encouraged students to explore startup opportunities. Dr. Sameera Siraj, Convener of the Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) GDC Ganderbal, highlighted the initiatives undertaken by the Skill Development Cell and IIC to enhance the entrepreneurship skills among students.
Rafeeq, District Nodal Officer of JKEDI Ganderbal, delivered a lecture on the role of EDI in empowering J&K’s youth through innovative ideas and startups. Aijaz Qureshi, an official from JK Bank, sensitized participants about the JK bank’s role in financing startups and schemes in Jammu and Kashmir. Sajad, Project Manager at JKEDI, urged students to dream big, and start their entrepreneurial journeys, emphasizing the importance of having clear goals.
Additional motivational lectures were delivered by Bushra Ashraf Shah, Functional Manager of DIC Ganderbal, and Sheikh Nawsheen, Faculty at JKEDI Ganderbal. The session was followed by the pitching of the startup ideas by the registered participants. Asif, student from the Department of Zoology moderated the program. Dr. Zeeshan Khushboo, Assistant Professor Functional English, delivered the formal vote of thanks. Dr. Sheikh Aafreen Rehman (Assistant professor, Agriculture Technology) and Dr. Sheikh Shubeena (Assistant Professor, Veterinary Technology) served as rapporteurs for the session.
