Srinagar, April 12: On the eve of the Basiki festival, and as directed by Dy. Commissioner Srinagar, Bila Mohi u Din, the Food Safety Team Srinagar, Drug and Food Control Organization, conducted comprehensive inspections in markets near the Gurdwara and Mughal Gardens. The initiative aimed to safeguard public health by ensuring the quality and safety of food items being prepared and sold.
Approximately 10 Food Business Operators (FBOs) were identified for violations and will be compounded under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards Act. Four FBOs paid a collective penalty of ₹11,000 on the spot.
The team conducted one-on-one sessions with FBOs to educate them on compliance with food safety standards, highlighting the importance of public health.
