In Srinagar, a somber atmosphere enveloped Gandabal as a large gathering assembled to offer funeral prayers for the five individuals who tragically lost their lives in the Jhelum boat capsize on Tuesday morning.

The victims included a woman and her two sons, along with two other local residents. Their final rites were performed amidst a crowd heavy with grief. The funeral procession, held in a local ground, attracted a vast multitude, their eyes mirroring the shock and sorrow that gripped the Batwara community in the aftermath of the tragic incident.

Residents pointed to the absence of a bridge in the locality as a contributing factor to the devastating loss suffered that day.

In the meantime, senior officials from the civil administration and the Jammu and Kashmir Police visited the site to assess the situation. Rescue efforts continued tirelessly as several individuals remained unaccounted for.
