First day of Apr sees 7 fresh cases in Kashmir; toll reaches 50 in valley, 62 in JK

Srinagar, Apr 1: April did not start well for Kashmir as it witnessed seven fresh cases on Wednesday taking the toll of coronavirus positive cases to 50 in the valley, and 62 across J&K.

The government released the updated numbers in its daily COVID-19 bulletin.

As per sources, at least three of the seven fresh cases are from Srinagar, while two are from Pulwama.

The government has placed under surveillance 17041 travellers and persons in contact with suspected or positive cases.

“Of them 10355 are in home quarantine, 516 in hospital quarantine, 3961 in home surveillance, while 2157 have completed their 28 day surveillance period,” the bulletin read.

It added that 977 samples have so far been sent for testing of which 911 have proven negative.

Sixty two tested positive (58 active positive, two recovered, two deaths), four reports are awaited. Seven new positive cases have been reported till 5pm today from Kashmir division,” the bulletin informed.

Meanwhile, Kashmir completed 14consecutive days of lockdown on Wednesday even as the entire India and most parts of the world are shut to contain the virus.
