TANGMARG, MAY 13: A massive fire broke out late Monday night at Darul Uloom Jamia Hidayah in Ghaniwani, Tangmarg, sparking panic in the area. The blaze, which erupted under unknown circumstances, caused extensive damage to the seminary’s infrastructure.
Local residents, along with the Indian Army, Fire and Emergency Services, and the police, launched a swift rescue operation. Around sixty students were safely evacuated, and fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Tehsildar Tangmarg, Ayad Qadri, arrived at the scene to oversee the rescue and firefighting efforts. Speaking to the media, he assured that the district administration would arrange temporary accommodation, bedding, and other essential supplies for the affected students.
The fire destroyed property and educational materials worth several lakhs of rupees. Firefighters, assisted by locals, were able to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently under investigation. Meanwhile, local residents have called on the administration and civil society organizations for immediate support in rebuilding the seminary.
