Family of four, driver killed in Bandipora mishap

Srinagar, July 1: Five passengers were killed and three others suffered injuries in a road accident when a Tata Sumo in which they were traveling in skidded off the road and turned turtle in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday.

A cab (Tata Sumo registration JK01F-9574) was on its way to Gurez from Kangan when it met with an accident at Tragbal area of Gurez and fell down into a deep gorge.

In the mishap, five passengers died on the spot while as three others suffered injuries and were evacuated to nearby hospital for treatment where the condition of one person is stated to be serious, he said.

The deceased were identified as Sajad Ahmad Lone, his wife Rubeena Begum, his son Moin Sajad, his daughter Arjumand Sajad and the driver of vehicle Mohammad Iqbal, a resident of Gurez.

Sajad, head of the family who was on the way to home was working as a teacher at a school in Kangan area of central Kashmir district.

A police official said that a case has been registered and further investigations were taken up in this regard.

The bodies were taken to the hospital for medical-legal medical formalities including postmortem, he said.

“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations were taken up,” the officer said.

Srinagar, July 1: Secretary Education Farooq Ahmad Shah and Director School Education Kashmir, Dr G N Itoo have expressed shock over the death of a teacher Sajad Faheem along with his family in a tragic road accident near Razdan top when the vehicle in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell in a gorge killing 5 persons including Sajad Faheem, his wife and two kids.

He was working as a teacher in a school in Kangan and was on the way to his home at Badugam Tulail, Gurez.

DSEK has said the Department stands with the other family members of the deceased at this hour of grief and will provide every possible help to the family of the deceased.

Other senior officers of the Department, teaching fraternity and others have also expressed shock over this loss and prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased souls.
