Elderly female dies of coronavirus in Udhampur, 4th death in J&K

Srinagar: An elderly female from Udhampur who passed away in a hospital in Jammu on Wednesday tested positive for coronavirus thus becoming the fourth victim of the pandemic in J&K.

Sharing the news, Government spokesperson Rohit Kansal tweeted: “61yrs old female patient from Udhampur passed away at GMC Jammu ; tested positive for Corona; reported to be suffering from Arthritis and bedridden. Contacts being traced.”

Hers was the first death due to the virus in Jammu division. Also she was the first female victim of the pandemic in the UT, which saw a massive spike in cases on Wednesday after 33 people tested COVID19 positive. Thirty of the fresh cases are from Kashmir.

This was also the second death in the past 24 hours as an elderly from Hajin area in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district passed away at SMHS on Tuesday.

The number of cases in J&K has shot beyond 150 so far.
