Elderly attacked for transporting buffalo in Ramban; police arrests 3

Srinagar, July 23: Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested three persons for attacking and injuring an elderly
man who was transporting a buffalo in Magarkote area of Ramban district of Jammu Sunday evening.
Those arrested include two brothers and a son of one of them, said a police official.
He said that Abdul Hameed Sheikh (65) was carrying a buffalo when he was intercepted by Parbat Singh and
his family at Inhar in Ramsoo area on Sunday.
Sheikh, he said, was carrying a buffalo to his home for domestic / milking purpose which he purchased from
a local gujjar.
“There happened some heated arguments between Hamid Sheikh and Parbat Singh, which resulted into a
scuffle and other family members also joined Parbhat Singh and attacked Abdul Hamid (sic),” said a police
spokesman.
While the official said that the scuffle ensued due to a personal issue involving money, Sheikh, who has since
been discharged from the hospital, said he was attacked for transporting a buffalo.
“FIR NO 57/ 2018 u/sec 341 323 382 rpc has been registered against the culprits at PS Ramsoo. Three
accused persons have been arrested so far. Investigation is in progress,” said the police spokesman.
