Srinagar, Jan 09: Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs) in Education department, on Tuesday, demanded regularization of their services.
Scores of CPWs under the umbrella body of All Jammu and Kashmir Contingent Paid Employees Union, on Tuesday, staged a protest at Pratap Park here to press for their demands.
They said they have been working in the department for the last 15 to 20 years. “We have not been regularized and are getting monthly remuneration of Rs 25, 50 and 1000 in various categories. We were promised to pay Rs3300 monthly in 2011 but are being paid only peanuts,” Nazir Ahmad Rather, president of the association said.
Rather said that the qualified workers should be regularized, and unqualified workers should be included in minimum wages Act.
“We appeal to the Education Minister Altaf Bukhari to create and sanction the Class IV post for education department so that our problems are solved,” he said.
He said that they will continue their protest until government takes any step in their favour.
