Srinagar: Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Transport Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, announced a fixed fare of Rs. 10 per person per kilometer for e-rickshaws. He stated that e-rickshaws are limited to designated routes, with a maximum range of six kilometers. “Violations of these rules will invite strict legal action,” he warned, as per Kashmir Pride.
Mahajan further emphasized that petrol autos must have operational meters. “Any auto running without a meter will face legal action. The rates are already established by the RTO or Motor Vehicles Department,” he noted.
Addressing commuters, Mahajan urged them to report any non-compliance. “Passengers play a crucial role in ensuring adherence to regulations. Violators will be penalized, and complaints can be lodged with the RTO,” he added.
On delayed licenses, Mahajan revealed that nearly two lakh licenses are pending due to printing issues. “The tendering process is nearly complete, and we expect to clear the backlog by the end of the month. Licenses will be dispatched via post as before,” he assured.
He also reminded drivers to follow speed limits, highlighting the importance of safety and adherence to traffic laws.
