Dr Andrabi Meets Union Minority Affairs Minister Rijiju

New Delhi: Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, on Tuesday met Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju in New Delhi and held detailed discussions on the Board’s recent initiatives and its future roadmap.
During the meeting, Dr Andrabi presented a comprehensive report outlining the achievements of the Waqf Board over the past financial year. She also shared the proposed plans and programmes for the current fiscal, focusing on further strengthening institutional management and expanding welfare initiatives.
Highlighting the transformation within the Board, Dr Andrabi emphasized several historic reforms and key projects undertaken during her tenure, which she said have significantly improved the functioning and transparency of Waqf management in Jammu & Kashmir. She noted that these changes have positioned the J&K Waqf Board among the leading boards in the country.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju appreciated the efforts and progress made by the Board, describing its functioning as a “model system” for the rest of India. He lauded Dr Andrabi’s leadership, particularly her emphasis on innovation, accountability, and decisive governance.
The Union Minister also congratulated Dr Andrabi for her visionary approach and assured full support from the Ministry of Minority Affairs for the Board’s upcoming projects and initiatives.
The meeting is seen as an important step towards enhancing coordination between the Centre and the J&K Waqf Board, with a focus on scaling up development and community-oriented programmes in the Union Territory.
