Srinagar, Dec 10: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today said the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Phase-III of the Srinagar Ring Road is under preparation.
He noted that alignment options have been thoroughly discussed with the Union Territory administration, and the project is expected to be included under the National Highways (NH-O) scheme, depending on the DPR’s final outcome.
Addressing specific concerns about the Patwa Road Budgam access point, Gadkari explained that an underpass without a slip road has been provisioned in the Comprehensive Agreement (CA). However, feasibility studies are being conducted to explore the construction of an access point connecting the crossroad to the Ring Road at the same location, taking into account the right-of-way and utility shifting requirements.
The Minister also provided updates on the construction progress of underpasses and overpasses at key locations highlighted by Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi.
On the issue of compensation disparities, Gadkari assured that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is actively coordinating with the Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA) and District Collectors to ensure the timely disbursement of pending compensation amounts.
