Srinagar, Sep 7: Reacting to the recent statement by National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said that it makes it clear that New Delhi has always aimed to hold on to J&K territory without any regard to the people of the region.

Mirwaiz, while addressing the Friday congregation at Jama Masjid here, said: “His statement has removed all masks and brought the real face of the Government of India before people of J&K and the world that for GoI the ultimate aim has always been to hold on to the territory of J&K at any cost with total disregard for the will of its inhabitants.”

Mirwaiz added: “This government believes in achieving complete integration of J&K with India through doing away with any and every provision that its own constitution had provided to the disputed state till the holding of a plebiscite that its own head of state had committed to the world.”

“Change in demography by removing state subject laws is part of the integration plan,” he said.

Mirwaiz, as per the statement, alleged that the “impatience to execute this design can be seen by the NSA statement challenging every law and constitutional provisions enshrined in Indian constitution, till the matter was to be decided by the people of J&K through referendum, by calling them aberrations that had to be done away with.”

“It shows arrogance and a complete disregard for historical facts and ground realities about J&K,” he said.

Mirwaiz said that J&K “was and is a dispute”.

“It’s a human issue. It’s about the relentless struggle of a people who want to ascertain their identity as a nation through a right to choose their destiny, as both India and Pakistan did when they got that opportunity in 1947. People of J&K are struggling for that opportunity. It was promised to them and the world is witness to it as it stands endorsed at the UN.
